Discuss greater than less than. Show students how this symbol works with numbers on the smart board alligator math game. Give them their own alligators and have them practice “eating” the greater number . K.N.1.8

Using a class set of number lines, help students learn how to tell which number is greater or less by its position. Have them practice us than less than game with a deck of cards. Teach kids how to play. Let them practice with each other. K.N.1.8

Students will be given a deck of cards and their own alligator. They will draw two cards and place their alligator accordingly. After practicing, they will be given a recording sheet to practice writing their numbers and symbols. K.N.1.8

Assess students’ knowledge of greater or less or equal by directing them through module 10, lesson 6.

Have them not only circle a number that is greater than or less than (per isntructions) but also see if they can write the correct symbol.
